The Cam Jordan Legacy Scholarship Program is a transformative initiative created to empower 4 exceptional high school seniors in Louisiana each year. This program provides full tuition coverage for four years at an in-state college or university, along with career exposure opportunities, mentorship, and professional development resources. By addressing financial barriers and fostering career readiness, the scholarship aims to cultivate future leaders who will positively impact their communities and beyond.
Program Objectives
1. Expand Access to Higher Education: Provide full tuition support to students from underserved backgrounds, enabling them to pursue higher education without financial burden.
2. Foster Career Readiness: Equip students with essential skills and professional networks through workshops, mentorship, and internship opportunities.
3. Build Community Leadership: Empower recipients to become role models and active contributors to their communities, strengthening Louisiana’s future workforce.
ELIGIBILITY & DETAILS
To qualify for the Cam Jordan Legacy Scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Residency: Must be a Louisiana resident
- Grade Level: Must be a high school senior at the time of application
- GPA: Must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
- College Enrollment: Must commit to attending a public in-state college or university in Louisiana
- Community Involvement: Applicants should have a demonstrated history of community service, leadership, or extracurricular activities
Scholarship Package
Full Tuition: The scholarship is worth $12,500 per year. If tuition costs are less than this amount, the remaining balance may be applied toward books, room and board, meal plans, or other approved educational expenses. Coverage is available for two to four years at a public, in-state college or university.
Laptop Package: Recipients will receive a new laptop to support their academic studies.
Professional Development Opportunities: Students will have access to office tours, workshops, and panel discussions designed to prepare them for successful careers.
Organization Requirements: Recipients are required to participate in at least one on-campus organization.
GPA Requirements: Students must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0. If a student’s GPA falls below 2.5 or if they leave school for any reason, the scholarship will be forfeited.

Mentorship Program
- Recipients will be paired with mentors from partner organizations, including professionals from industries such as sports, business, and technology
- Mentors will provide guidance, career advice, and networking opportunities throughout the recipients’ college journey
Career Readiness Workshops
- Topics will include resume building, interview preparation, financial literacy, and leadership skills
- Workshops will be facilitated by industry experts and local leaders, offering real-world insights
Internship Opportunities
- Scholarship recipients will gain access to internships and job-shadowing experiences with partner organizations
- These opportunities will provide hands-on experience in fields aligned with the students’ career interests

Ongoing Program Components:
- Community Service Projects: Scheduled twice annually(dates announced each year)
Required Documents
- Completed application form
- High school transcript showing a minimum GPA of 3.0
- Proof of Louisiana residency (e.g., utility bill, driver’s license)
- Two letters of recommendation:
○ One from a teacher or school administrator
○ One from a coach, community leader, or employer - Personal essay (500-750 words) addressing the topic:
○ “Describe your educational goals, leadership experience, and how this scholarship will help you make a difference in your community.”
Selection Process
- Selection: The selection committee vets the applications and select the top 10 finalists to bring to the Board
- Financial Need: Must demonstrate financial need (proof of income required, previous years tax return)
- Interviews: Finalists then participate in an interview before the scholarship recipients are selected.
- Award ceremony: scholarship recipients will be celebrated in a formal event attended by family, school official, and media
