OVERVIEW & OBJECTIVES

The Cam Jordan Legacy Scholarship Program is a transformative initiative created to empower 4 exceptional high school seniors in Louisiana each year. This program provides full tuition coverage for four years at an in-state college or university, along with career exposure opportunities, mentorship, and professional development resources. By addressing financial barriers and fostering career readiness, the scholarship aims to cultivate future leaders who will positively impact their communities and beyond.

Program Objectives

1. Expand Access to Higher Education: Provide full tuition support to students from underserved backgrounds, enabling them to pursue higher education without financial burden.

2. Foster Career Readiness: Equip students with essential skills and professional networks through workshops, mentorship, and internship opportunities.

3. Build Community Leadership: Empower recipients to become role models and active contributors to their communities, strengthening Louisiana’s future workforce.

ELIGIBILITY & DETAILS

To qualify for the Cam Jordan Legacy Scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:

● Residency: Must be a Louisiana resident.

● Grade Level: Must be a high school senior at the time of application.

● GPA: Must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

● Financial Need: Must demonstrate financial need (proof of income required, previous year’s tax return).

● College Enrollment: Must commit to attending a public in-state college or university in Louisiana.

● Community Involvement: Applicants should have a demonstrated history of community service, leadership, or extracurricular activities.

Scholarship Package

Full Tuition: The scholarship is worth $12,500 per year. If tuition is less than that the remainder balance will be applied towards books, room & board, meal plan, etc. Coverage for two to four years at a public in-state college or university.

Laptop Package: Recipients will receive a new laptop to support their studies.

Professional Development Opportunities: Access to office tours, workshops, and panels designed to prepare students for successful careers.

Organization Requirements: Students will be required to join at least one on-campus organization.

GPA Requirements: Students must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5 while in school. If the GPA falls below 2.5 or if the student leaves school for any reason, the scholarship will be voided.

Supportive Services

Mentorship Program

● Recipients will be paired with mentors from partner organizations, including professionals from industries such as sports, business, and technology.

● Mentors will provide guidance, career advice, and networking opportunities throughout the recipients’ college journey.

Career Readiness Workshops

● Topics will include resume building, interview preparation, financial literacy, and leadership skills.

● Workshops will be facilitated by industry experts and local leaders, offering real-world insights.

Internship Opportunities

● Scholarship recipients will gain access to internships and job-shadowing experiences with partner organizations.

● These opportunities will provide hands-on experience in fields aligned with the student’s career interests.

Required Documents

1. Completed application form. (online form here)

2. High school transcript showing a minimum GPA of 3.0

3. Proof of Louisiana residency (e.g., utility bill, driver’s license)

4. Proof of financial need (e.g., family tax documents)

5. Two letters of recommendation:

• One from a teacher or school administrator

• One from a coach, community leader, or employer

6. Personal essay (500-750 words) addressing the topic:

• “Describe your educational goals, leadership experience, and how this scholarship will help you make a difference in your community.

WORKSHOPS & TIMELINES

Summer 2025 (Before College):

● July 15, 2025: Orientation & Welcome Session – Introduction to the program, mentors, and tips for transitioning to college.

● August 5, 2025: College Readiness Workshop – Focus on study skills, time management, and financial literacy basics.

First Year of College (2025-2026):

● October 10, 2025: Resume Building Workshop facilitated by a school administrator.

● March 15, 2026: Networking and Interview Skills Workshop, Mentor Check-In.

Second Year of College (2026-2027):

● September 15, 2026: Internship Prep Workshop and Advanced Financial Literacy.

● April 10, 2027: Leadership Development Workshop, Mentor Check-In.

Third and Fourth Years of College (2027-2029):

● September of Junior Year: Graduate School or Job Market Prep Workshop.

● March of Senior Year: Capstone Networking Event and Final Mentor Check-In.

Ongoing Support:

● Quarterly Mentor Check-Ins: Held on the 15th of January, April, July, and October each year.

● Community Service Projects: Scheduled twice per year in February and September, dates announced annually.

Selection Process

● The selection committee will vet the applications and select the top 5 finalists to bring to the Board.

● Finalists will participate in an interview before the scholarship recipients are selected. Program Announcement

Selection Event

Cam Jordan will personally announce the scholarship at a selected Louisiana high school.

The event will feature:

● A school tour led by Cam Jordan.

● Interactive Q&A sessions to inspire students and emphasize the value of education.

● A press release, media coverage, and social media announcement to highlight the program’s impact.

Program Launch and Follow-Up

● Award Ceremony: Scholarship recipients will be celebrated in a formal event attended by family, school officials, and the media.

● Ongoing Support: Recipients will benefit from regular mentorship check-ins, career development workshops, and community service opportunities throughout their college journey.

Budgetary Requirements for the Cam Jordan Foundation Legacy Scholarship Program

Year 1 of the program will be $50,000 for 4 students
Year 2 will be $60,000 for 4 students
Year 3 will be $70,000 for 4 students
Year 4 will be $80,000 for 4 students.
From that point forward, the scholarship will be $80,000 per year (8 Students at $10,000 per year).
